When Molecules of Life founder, William Lubell, asked me to contact the art and architecture museums in Montreal to invite them to partner with MOL, I began to compose letters to the administrators. I wonder if I will get responses from my e-mails to the Contemporary Art Museum, the CCA, and the MMFA. If our team of chemists and artists can hold the attention of children in the elementary schools and solicit the help and enthusiasm of parents and teachers for our 20 or more art and science lessons, then why not also go to the museums and explain to visiting children where paint comes from, what building materials are made of sugar (cellulose), and how polymers are connected? When we do the art projects they can express their points of view and what they remember about molecular chemistry.
